Questions we hear most

Do you take my insurance?

We bill many PPO dental plans and file the claim for you. Whether we are in network depends on your plan, and the front desk checks before your first visit. See how fees work for the list of plan types.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your visit, and you get an estimate in writing before treatment. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Call the front desk and we will answer plainly for your plan. The owner sets this answer.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we work. Most people feel pressure, not pain, and we stop whenever you ask.

How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides from your exam. For many adults it is a cleaning every six months and X-rays when they will help; if your gums need more, we say so.

What is a deep cleaning?

A deep cleaning removes plaque and tartar from below the gum line and smooths the roots, for people whose exam shows gum disease. It is often two visits, with numbing. See the gum-health program.

Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes. Dr. Gustafson sees children. Tell us your child's age when you call and we will plan the visit.

What counts as a dental emergency, and what do I do first?

A broken or knocked-out tooth, a toothache that won't ease or a swollen gum: call us. Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing or bleeding that won't stop needs an emergency room or 911.

Do you offer sedation?

We use local numbing, and we don't offer sedation at this office. If you are nervous, tell us and we will go slowly, or refer you to an office that does.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. Ask when you schedule or at your visit, and we give it in writing before any treatment starts.

Do you speak Spanish?

Betsy Arriaga, our hygiene lead, speaks Spanish and English. Dr. Tannous speaks Arabic and English.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call us, and please give a day's notice when you can. We will find another time.

Ask for a visit, and get the plan in writing

The front desk will call, text or email with a time.
